Gender Equality Plan

With its Gender Equality Plan, DIL complies with Horizon Europe requirements and promotes equal opportunity

To meet the eligibility criteria of the Horizon Europe Framework Program for Research and Innovation 2021–2027 (Horizon Europe), legal entities from Member States and associated countries that are public bodies, research organizations, or higher education institutions (including private research organizations and higher education institutions) must submit a Gender Equality Plan (GEP). The goal of a GEP is to ensure and promote gender equality within an institution; to foster this through a process of structural change. Gender equality benefits research and innovation by improving the quality and relevance of research and innovation, attracting and retaining more talent, and ensuring that everyone can reach their full potential.

This document presents a first draft of the GEP of the DIL (German Institute for Food Technology, e. V.) based on the guidelines1 published by the European Commission on September 27, 2021. This GEP has been adapted to the current circumstances at DIL; this first version outlines the current state of affairs regarding the topic and is considered a living, dynamic document. The DIL also intends to use the GEP to increase the effectiveness of measures promoting gender equality and non-discrimination within the institute and to raise broad awareness of the issue. As an employer, the DIL stands for an international, diverse, multidisciplinary, and equitable institution. The institute’s international orientation—both in terms of its research partners and its staff—makes a significant contribution to non-discrimination, including on the grounds of race, religion, and belief, through the daily practice of intercultural cooperation. This GEP is valid for the period from October 2023 to September 2025.
