EU Food Biofuture

Biotech innovations in Europe face challenges—complex regulations, high costs, and limited funding. While other regions, such as the U.S. and China, have invested heavily, Europe is lagging behind. Startups also struggle with a shortage of talent, limited access to laboratories, and inadequate funding programs. The program brings together stakeholders in the EU food biotechnology sector to address these issues. Through collaboration, strategic recommendations are developed in key areas such as education, policy, financing, and infrastructure to drive innovation and secure Europe’s leadership role in the future of food. In this context, the DIL coordinates the process of defining and describing pre-competitive research and innovation needs.
