The DIL (German Institute of Food Technology e. V. ) is a non-university, non-profit research institute that has served as a driver of innovation for the food industry since its founding in 1983. In Quakenbrück—at the heart of Lower Saxony’s food industry—an internationally networked institute has emerged over the past decades, bringing together approximately 120 experts in food technology, food science, analytics, sustainability, and food data.

Job Description

Our research group is investigating how dietary components, food ingredients, and new processing technologies influence the function of the intestinal barrier. To this end, we use intestinal cell culture models and examine biological, biochemical, and immunological changes. This is a project-based position and is initially limited to two years. An extension is possible.

Your responsibilities:

Cultivation, maintenance, and handling of various human cell lines Processing of cell culture and food samples Conducting cell biological, functional, and protein biochemical analyses Documentation of experimental work and laboratory procedures Assisting with the establishment, optimization, and standardization of laboratory protocols Support for day-to-day laboratory operations, particularly in the areas of ordering, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and general laboratory organization

Your Profile:

A completed apprenticeship as an MTA, BTA, CTA, or biology lab technician, or a comparable qualification; alternatively, a completed degree in the natural sciences, e.g., a B.Sc. in biology, biochemistry, nutritional sciences, or related fields Practical experience in laboratory work, ideally in the field of cell culture, protein biochemistry, or immunological analysis A meticulous, reliable, and structured approach to work Enjoyment of hands-on laboratory work and working with biological samples Willingness to learn new methods and workflows Ability to work well in a team and enjoy collaborating with colleagues, students, and partners Good command of German; knowledge of English is a plus
