Ausgangslage

EIT Food was founded in 2017 to accelerate the transformation of food production, distribution, and consumption. Its main goal is to create a resilient, healthy, and sustainable food system that positions Europe as a global leader in food innovation and strengthens the EU’s competitiveness. EIT Food’s extensive network connects strategic sectors and includes over 100 expert partners—ranging from entrepreneurs to academic researchers to students—to drive innovative solutions for the agri-food sector.

Projektbeschreibung

EIT Food follows a “Theory of Change” guided by the principle “Creating consumer-valued food for healthier nutrition” and the goal “Educate to engage, innovate, and advance.” As a result, the organization has grown into the largest innovation community in the food sector and is driving the transformation of the European food system. EIT Food has invested in startup initiatives, supported over 350 agri-food startups, and provided more than €11 million in targeted funding. Through the “Farm to Fork” strategy, EIT Food strengthens production and supply chains and promotes sustainable, healthy nutrition for all. In 2023, the network comprised 135 partners, supported 39 market launches and 240 startups/scale-ups that attracted €209 million in investments, and reached 21.6 million digital contacts. The DIL is a founding member and participates in SEEDBED and Redesign Food 4 Value.
