The FoodPlus Small Projects Fund supports feasibility studies and innovation projects that help reduce ammonia, greenhouse gas, and nitrate emissions in the agriculture and food sector. At the same time, the project strengthens cross-border cooperation between German and Dutch small and medium-sized enterprises. The focus is on product, process, and service innovations that are intended to yield scalable solutions for lower-emission production and processing. The funded projects focus on four key areas: precision agriculture, food loss and food waste, circular food systems, and energy-efficient food production. As part of the project, at least 65 feasibility studies at technology readiness levels 4 through 5 and 65 innovation projects at technology readiness levels 6 through 8 are to be implemented. In total, this will provide support to more than 130 small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, 18 public events and more than 50 communication activities are planned. The total budget for the Small Projects Fund is 9.55 million euros. The funded projects are intended to implement concrete innovations in the German-Dutch border region and to sustainably reduce greenhouse gas, ammonia, and nitrate emissions in agri-food production.
